Redfield, New York

Redfield is a town in Oswego County, New York, USA. The population was 550 at the 2010 census.

The Town of Redfield was incorporated from part of the Town of Mexico in 1800. The town is in the northeast corner of the county.

As the town is located in the lake effect snowbelt, it is known for its frequent and heavy snowfalls, even more so than other towns in upstate New York. In February 2007 the town unofficially set a record when 141 inches (360 cm) of snow fell in 10 days.

East Branch, New York

East Branch is a hamlet in Delaware County, New York, United States. The community is located at the confluence of the East Branch Delaware River and Beaver Kill and along New York State Route 17, 7.9 miles (12.7 km) east-northeast of Hancock. East Branch has a post office with ZIP code 13756.[2][3]

Port Jefferson, New York

Port Jefferson (informally known as Port Jeff[3]) is an incorporated village in the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County, New York on the North Shore of Long Island. Officially known as the Incorporated Village of Port Jefferson, the population was 7,750 as of the 2010 United States Census.[4]

Port Jefferson was first settled in the 17th century and remained a rural community until its development as an active shipbuilding center in the mid-19th century. The village has since transitioned to a tourist-based economy. The port remains active as terminus of the Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Ferry, one of two commercial ferry lines between Long Island and Connecticut, and is supplemented by the terminus of the Long Island Rail Road's Port Jefferson Branch. It is also the center of the Greater Port Jefferson region of northwestern Brookhaven, serving as the cultural, commercial and transportation hub of the neighboring Port Jefferson Station, Belle Terre, Mount Sinai, Miller Place, Poquott, and the Setaukets.

The original settlers of the Town of Brookhaven, based in the neighboring hamlet of Setauket, bought a tract of land from the Setalcott Indians in 1655. The deed included the area of contemporary Port Jefferson along with all other lands along the North Shore from the Nissequogue River eastward to Mount Misery Point.[5]

Unadilla, New York

Unadilla is a town in Otsego County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the town had a population of 4,392. The name is derived from an Iroquois word for "meeting place". Unadilla is located in the southwest corner of the county, southwest of Oneonta. The Village of Unadilla is located in the southern part of the town. The mayor of Unadilla is Jim LaBella, as of June 6, 2018.

The first settlement occurred around 1770 in the area of Sidney (in adjacent Delaware County), followed by Unadilla. Both Sidney and Unadilla were destroyed during the American Revolution and were re-established after the war. The town was formed from part of the Town of Otsego in 1792. Later the size of the town was reduced by the formation of new towns: Butternuts, Milford, and Oneonta in 1796, Otego (town), New York in 1822, and an addition to Butternuts in 1857. In 1827, the community of Unadilla set itself off from the town by incorporating as a village.

The Unadilla Waterworks, Russ-Johnsen Site, and Andrew Mann Inn are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.[3]

Sabael, New York

Sabael is a hamlet in the town of Indian Lake, Hamilton County, New York, United States. The community is located along the western shore of Indian Lake and New York State Route 30 16.2 miles (26.1 km) north of Speculator. Sabael had a post office until March 9, 2013; it still has its own ZIP code, 12864.[2][3]
