Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Initially, medical alert systems were developed to work inside your house, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Many business likewise now provide the choice of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pushing the wearable call button enables you to talk to a dispatcher through a base system located in your home.

However many business provide mobile alternatives, too. You can use these systems at home, but they’ll also permit you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These operate over cellular networks and integrate GPS technology. This way, if you get lost or press the call button for aid but are unable to talk, the tracking service can find you.

    1. Should You Add a Fall-Detection Feature?

Some companies offer the option of automatic fall detection, for an additional monthly fee. Manufacturers say these devices sense falls when they occur and automatically contact the dispatch center, just as they would if you had pressed the call button.

    1. Whats the Cost?

Fees. Beware of complicated pricing plans and hidden fees. Look for a company with no extra fees related to equipment, shipping, installation, activation, or service and repair. Don’t fall for scams that offer free service or “donated or used” equipment.
Contracts. You should not have to enter into a long-term contract. You should only have to pay ongoing monthly fees, which should range between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be careful about paying for service in advance, since you never know when you’ll need to stop the service temporarily (due to a hospitalization, for instance) or permanently.
Guarantee and cancellation policies. Look for a full money-back guarantee, or at least a trial period, in case you are not satisfied with the service. And you’ll want the ability to cancel at any time with no penalties (and a full refund if monthly fees have already been paid).
Discounts. Ask about discounts for multiple people in the same household, as well as for veterans, membership organizations, medical insurance or via a hospital, medical or care organization. Ask if the company offers any discount options or a sliding fee scale for people with lower incomes.
Insurance. For the most part, Medicare and private insurance companies will not cover the costs of a medical alert. In some states Medicaid may cover all or part of the cost. You can check with your private insurance company to see if it offers discounts or referrals.
Tax deductions. Check with your tax professional to find out if the cost of a medical alert is tax deductible as a medically necessary expense.

Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

      1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Originally, medical alert systems were designed to work inside your house, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Lots of companies likewise now use the option of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who may not have a landline.

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button allows you to speak to a dispatcher through a base system situated in your home.

However lots of business offer mobile alternatives, too. You can utilize these systems at home, but they’ll likewise permit you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These run over cellular networks and integrate GPS innovation. In this manner, if you get lost or push the call button for help but are unable to talk, the tracking service can locate you.

Harrison is a coterminous town-village located in Westchester County, New York, approximately 22 miles (35 km) northeast of Manhattan. The population was 27,472 at the 2010 census.[4] Harrison was ranked sixth in the list of the top 10 places to live in New York State for 2014 according to the national online real estate brokerage Movoto.[5]

According to Forbes, Harrison is the 326th wealthiest place in the United States with a median home sale price of $1,230,625, slightly below that of Chappaqua.[6] Fundera ranked Harrison the best place in New York for small business.[7]

Harrison was established in 1696 by a patent granted by the British government to John Harrison and three others, who had a year earlier bargained with local Native Americans to purchase an area of land above Westchester Path (an old trail that led from Manhattan to Port Chester) and below Rye Lake.[8] Local custom holds that Harrison was given 24 hours to ride his horse around the area he could claim, and the horse couldn't swim or didn't want to get its feet wet, but this is folklore.[9] In fact, the land below Westchester Path and along Long Island Sound had already been purchased and partly developed by the settlers of Rye, NY.

The Town of Middlesex is on the northwest corner of the county and is south of Canandaigua, New York.

A legend of the Seneca tribe states that they originated in a village called Nundawao, near the south end of Canandaigua Lake, at South Hill. Some companies allow 9 numbers to be configured. Each of these 9 numbers will be called one after the other till a human is reached. In case you are wondering how a maker knows that a human has raised the phone, then here is how it works. When an individual takes the call, he is asked to enter in a number. If the number is gotten in properly, then the system assumes that it is a live person and not an answering machine. Then the system will play the message for the individual raising the call.

In a 2-way system, a 2-way communication is developed between the individual in distress and the emergency alert service provider. This is why it is crucial you choose a reputable provider. It is well worth the few additional dollars spent per month, in return for quality service and reaction.

Some 2-way provider will provide extra service. For example some alarm companies will bring up medical records of the client to figure out if he has any known medical concerns. This ensures immediate service and can avoid a great deal of trouble and disappointment.

Panic buttons for the senior can be used as a bracelet, pendant or on the belt. They are usually water proof so there is no problems with the emergency alert systems getting spoiled due to wetness.

Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

      1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Originally, medical alert systems were developed to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Lots of companies also now provide the alternative of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pushing the wearable call button allows you to speak with a dispatcher through a base unit located in your house.

However numerous companies use mobile alternatives, too. You can utilize these systems in your home, however they’ll likewise permit you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These run over cellular networks and integrate GPS innovation. This way, if you get lost or push the call button for aid however are unable to talk, the tracking service can find you.
