Davenport, New York

Davenport is a town in Delaware County, New York, United States. The population was 2,965 at the 2010 census.[3] The town is in the northeast part of the county.

The town was formed in 1817 from part of the towns of Kortright and Meredith. Davenport is named after an early settler, John Davenport, who also became the first town supervisor.

The north town line is the border of Otsego County.

Burlington Flats, New York

Port Chester, New York

Port Chester is a village in Westchester County, New York, United States. The village is part of the town of Rye. As of the 2010 census, Port Chester had a population of 28,967.[2] Port Chester borders on the State of Connecticut to the east. The village's name is pronounced with the same stress pattern as the county's, i.e., "PORT ches-ter", not "Port CHES-ter".

Port Chester is one of only 12 villages in New York still incorporated under a charter; the other villages either incorporated or reincorporated under the provisions of Village Law.[3]

The Bush-Lyon Homestead, Capitol Theater, Life Savers Building, Putnam and Mellor Engine and Hose Company Firehouse, St. Peter's Episcopal Church, and United States Post Office are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.[4]

Glens Falls, New York

Glens Falls is a city in Warren County, New York, United States and is the central city of the Glens Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area.[4] The population was 14,700 at the 2010 census.[5] The name was given by Colonel Johannes Glen, the falls referring to a large waterfall in the Hudson River at the southern end of the city.[6]

Glens Falls is a city located in the southeast corner of Warren County, surrounded by the town of Queensbury to the north, east, and west, and by the Hudson River and Saratoga County to the south. Glens Falls is known as "Hometown U.S.A.", a title given to it by Look Magazine in 1944. The city has also referred to itself in the past as the "Empire City."[7]

As a halfway point between Fort Edward and Fort William Henry, the falls was the site of several battles during the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War. The then-hamlet was mostly destroyed by fire twice during the latter conflict, forcing the Quakers to abandon the settlement until the war ended in 1783. Fire also ravaged the village in 1864, 1884, and 1902.[7]

North Babylon, New York

North Babylon is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located in Suffolk County, on the south shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 17,509 at the 2010 census.[1] It is a suburban middle class community located within the Town of Babylon.

North Babylon is a community in the Town of Babylon. It has a number of recreational areas such as Belmont Lake State park where walking, cycling, picnicking and boating are enjoyed. Phelps Lane pool is also a popular recreation area for swimming, tennis and relaxation.

The main commercial thoroughfare in North Babylon is Deer Park Avenue, featuring a wide array of strip malls, shopping centers, restaurants, recreational activities, homes and schools. A portion of this road is known as New York State Route 231 from Montauk Highway to Sylvan Road. The remainder of the road extends north to the Northern State Parkway in Dix Hills. Deer Park Avenue gained notoriety as a very popular "cruise strip" where hundreds of people would congregate in the shopping centers on the weekends to show off their classic cars.
