Some companies offer the option of automatic fall detection, for an additional monthly fee. Manufacturers say these devices sense falls when they occur and automatically contact the dispatch center, just as they would if you had pressed the call button.

    1. Whats the Cost?

Fees. Beware of complicated pricing plans and hidden fees. Look for a company with no extra fees related to equipment, shipping, installation, activation, or service and repair. Don’t fall for scams that offer free service or “donated or used” equipment.
Contracts. You should not have to enter into a long-term contract. You should only have to pay ongoing monthly fees, which should range between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be careful about paying for service in advance, since you never know when you’ll need to stop the service temporarily (due to a hospitalization, for instance) or permanently.
Guarantee and cancellation policies. Look for a full money-back guarantee, or at least a trial period, in case you are not satisfied with the service. And you’ll want the ability to cancel at any time with no penalties (and a full refund if monthly fees have already been paid).
Discounts. Ask about discounts for multiple people in the same household, as well as for veterans, membership organizations, medical insurance or via a hospital, medical or care organization. Ask if the company offers any discount options or a sliding fee scale for people with lower incomes.
Insurance. For the most part, Medicare and private insurance companies will not cover the costs of a medical alert. In some states Medicaid may cover all or part of the cost. You can check with your private insurance company to see if it offers discounts or referrals.
Tax deductions. Check with your tax professional to find out if the cost of a medical alert is tax deductible as a medically necessary expense.

Irvington, sometimes known as Irvington-on-Hudson, is an affluent[3][4][5][6][7] suburban village in the town of Greenburgh in Westchester County, New York, United States. It is located on the eastern bank of the Hudson River, 20 miles (32 km) north of midtown Manhattan in New York City, and is served by a station stop on the Metro-North Hudson Line. To the north of Irvington is the village of Tarrytown, to the south the village of Dobbs Ferry, and to the east unincorporated parts of Greenburgh, including East Irvington. Irvington includes within its boundaries the community of Ardsley-on-Hudson, which has its own ZIP code and Metro-North station, but which should not be confused with the nearby village of Ardsley, New York.

The population of Irvington at the 2010 census was 6,420.[8] Because many of Irvington's residents – especially those in the upper income brackets – live in Irvington and work in New York City, the village has a reputation as a "commuter town" or a "bedroom community".[9]

The village's Main Street area has been designated an historic district by New York State and on January 15, 2014 was added to the National Register of Historic Places.[10][11] In 2010, Westchester Magazine ranked Irvington as the "Best Place to Live in Westchester".[12]

Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

      1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Originally, medical alert systems were designed to work inside your house, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Many companies also now offer the alternative of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pushing the wearable call button permits you to speak with a dispatcher through a base unit located in your house.

Many business provide mobile options, too. You can utilize these systems in the house, but they’ll also allow you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These run over cellular networks and integrate GPS technology. In this manner, if you get lost or press the call button for help but are unable to talk, the monitoring service can locate you.

      1. Should You Add a Fall-Detection Feature?

Taberg is a hamlet in the town of Annsville in Oneida County, New York, United States. Taberg is the town center of Annsville, which was originally named Taberg.

Taberg was originally a hamlet named from an iron-mining town in Sweden called Taberg and was situated on the east branch of Fish Creek, near what is now the southeast part of Annsville. It originally contained three churches, viz., Baptist, Methodist and Presbyterian; the first town census population numbered about 350.

In 1809, the Oneida Iron and Glass Company commenced operations, and during the War of 1812-15, was engaged in the manufacturing of shot and shell for the United States Army. After the close of the war, the Company engaged in the manufacturing of hollow ware, until 1865, when the business was discontinued. A large tannery is now located near the site of the old furnace. One other notable place of interest is the Old Taberg Cemetery.
