Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Initially, medical alert systems were developed to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Numerous business also now offer the alternative of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button allows you to speak to a dispatcher through a base system situated in your home.

However lots of companies provide mobile options, too. You can use these systems at home, but they’ll also enable you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These run over cellular networks and incorporate GPS technology. This way, if you get lost or push the call button for assistance but are not able to talk, the monitoring service can locate you.

    1. Should You Add a Fall-Detection Feature?

Some companies offer the option of automatic fall detection, for an additional monthly fee. Manufacturers say these devices sense falls when they occur and automatically contact the dispatch center, just as they would if you had pressed the call button.

    1. Whats the Cost?

Fees. Beware of complicated pricing plans and hidden fees. Look for a company with no extra fees related to equipment, shipping, installation, activation, or service and repair. Don’t fall for scams that offer free service or “donated or used” equipment.
Contracts. You should not have to enter into a long-term contract. You should only have to pay ongoing monthly fees, which should range between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be careful about paying for service in advance, since you never know when you’ll need to stop the service temporarily (due to a hospitalization, for instance) or permanently.
Guarantee and cancellation policies. Look for a full money-back guarantee, or at least a trial period, in case you are not satisfied with the service. And you’ll want the ability to cancel at any time with no penalties (and a full refund if monthly fees have already been paid).
Discounts. Ask about discounts for multiple people in the same household, as well as for veterans, membership organizations, medical insurance or via a hospital, medical or care organization. Ask if the company offers any discount options or a sliding fee scale for people with lower incomes.
Insurance. For the most part, Medicare and private insurance companies will not cover the costs of a medical alert. In some states Medicaid may cover all or part of the cost. You can check with your private insurance company to see if it offers discounts or referrals.
Tax deductions. Check with your tax professional to find out if the cost of a medical alert is tax deductible as a medically necessary expense.

Red Hook is a town in Dutchess County, New York, United States. The population was 11,319 at the 2010 census.[3] The name is supposedly derived from the red foliage on trees on a small strip of land on the Hudson River.[citation needed] The town contains two villages, Red Hook and Tivoli. The town is in the northwest part of Dutchess County. U.S. Route 9 and State Route 9G pass through the town.

The town also contains two hamlets. Bard College is in the hamlet of Annandale-on-Hudson. The Unification Theological Seminary is in the hamlet of Barrytown. Both hamlets are located within the Hudson River Historic District.

The region was settled in the late 17th century under the Schuyler Patent. Prior to 1812, Red Hook was part of the town of Rhinebeck. Because Rhinebeck, as well other towns, had populations over 5,000 residents, the state legislature authorized the separation of these two precincts on June 12 to accommodate and encourage public attendance at town meetings via horseback or carriage. The first documented Town of Red Hook meeting was on April 6, 1813, in a local inn and held yearly afterwards as required by law. Wealthy landowning farmers oversaw the maintenance of their assigned roads with the help of their farm workers and neighbors. The Red Hook Society for the Apprehension and Detention of Horse Thieves is thought to be one of the oldest formal organizations in the state and still holds an annual meeting.

Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

      1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Initially, medical alert systems were created to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Numerous business also now provide the option of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who may not have a landline.

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button allows you to speak to a dispatcher through a base unit situated in your house.

However numerous companies provide mobile choices, too. You can use these systems in your home, but they’ll likewise permit you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These operate over cellular networks and include GPS technology. In this manner, if you get lost or push the call button for assistance but are unable to talk, the monitoring service can locate you.

Haverstraw /ˈhævərˌstrɔː/ is a town in Rockland County, New York, United States, located north of the Town of Clarkstown and the Town of Ramapo; east of Orange County, New York; south of the Town of Stony Point; and west of the Hudson River. The town runs from the west to the east border of the county in its northern part. The population was 36,634 at the 2010 census.[4] The name comes from the Dutch word Haverstroo meaning "oats straw",[5] referring to the grasslands along the river. The town contains three villages, one of which is also known as Haverstraw. Haverstraw village is the original seat of government for the town, hosting the area's historic central downtown business district and the densest population in northern Rockland County.

In 1609, the region was explored by Henry Hudson. A land purchase was made in this town in 1666 from local natives and confirmed as a patent in 1671. The region was known as Haverstroo, meaning "oat straw" in Dutch.

During the American Revolution, it served as an important lookout for British activities on the Hudson. A blue-marked trail, the Long Path, may be taken 2 miles (3 km) eastward from Central Highway along the crest of South Mountain to High Tor. Halfway is Little Tor, the second highest peak on South Mountain.

In a 2-way system, a 2-way interaction is developed in between the individual in distress and the emergency alert service provider. This is why it is extremely important you choose a trusted service provider. It is well worth the few additional dollars spent monthly, in return for quality service and reaction.

Some 2-way service providers will supply extra service. For example some alarm business will bring up medical records of the patient to identify if he has any known medical issues. This ensures immediate service and can avoid a great deal of trouble and aggravation.

Panic buttons for the elderly can be used as a bracelet, pendant or on the belt. They are generally water proof so there is no concerns with the emergency alert systems getting ruined due to wetness.

Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button permits you to speak to a dispatcher through a base system situated in your house.

But lots of business use mobile choices, too. You can utilize these systems in the house, however they’ll likewise permit you to call for help while you’re out and about.

Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

      1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Initially, medical alert systems were created to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Numerous business likewise now provide the choice of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pushing the wearable call button permits you to talk to a dispatcher through a base unit located in your home.

Lots of business provide mobile choices, too. You can utilize these systems at home, but they’ll also permit you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These run over cellular networks and integrate GPS technology. By doing this, if you get lost or press the call button for assistance but are not able to talk, the tracking service can locate you.

The town of Lake Pleasant is within the Adirondack Park and is centrally located in the county. The town is a tourist hub, with seasonal homes comprising about three-quarters of the housing units in the area.[5] Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, the unofficial summer season, the small town is a busy community, with many activities including a parade, fireworks, summer musical, camping, hiking, water activities, historical activities, art show, geocaching, and mountain biking.
