    1. Whats the Cost?

Fees. Beware of complicated pricing plans and hidden fees. Look for a company with no extra fees related to equipment, shipping, installation, activation, or service and repair. Don’t fall for scams that offer free service or “donated or used” equipment.
Contracts. You should not have to enter into a long-term contract. You should only have to pay ongoing monthly fees, which should range between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be careful about paying for service in advance, since you never know when you’ll need to stop the service temporarily (due to a hospitalization, for instance) or permanently.
Guarantee and cancellation policies. Look for a full money-back guarantee, or at least a trial period, in case you are not satisfied with the service. And you’ll want the ability to cancel at any time with no penalties (and a full refund if monthly fees have already been paid).
Discounts. Ask about discounts for multiple people in the same household, as well as for veterans, membership organizations, medical insurance or via a hospital, medical or care organization. Ask if the company offers any discount options or a sliding fee scale for people with lower incomes.
Insurance. For the most part, Medicare and private insurance companies will not cover the costs of a medical alert. In some states Medicaid may cover all or part of the cost. You can check with your private insurance company to see if it offers discounts or referrals.

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button permits you to talk to a dispatcher through a base unit situated in your home.

Numerous companies provide mobile choices, too. You can use these systems at home, but they’ll likewise allow you to call for help while you’re out and about.

Some companies offer the option of automatic fall detection, for an additional monthly fee. Manufacturers say these devices sense falls when they occur and automatically contact the dispatch center, just as they would if you had pressed the call button.

Tax deductions. Check with your tax professional to find out if the cost of a medical alert is tax deductible as a medically necessary expense.

The hamlet of Findley Lake is in the town of Mina in southwestern Chautauqua County, New York in the United States, at an elevation of 1440 ft (439 m) above sea level.[1] The hamlet is on the north shore of Findley Lake. The hamlet was settled by War of 1812 veteran Alexander Findley[citation needed] who in 1815 built a dam to power his mill and thus created the lake from two ponds. The settlement that grew up around the mills prospered.

The Lakeside Assembly on the southwest shore entertained during the summer between 1895 and 1915 with programs that rivaled Chautauqua Assembly, at the Chautauqua Institution. The Assembly was reached by two steamboats, the Silver Spray and the Daisy. The United Methodist Church continues to operate a summer camp, Camp Findley, in the hamlet of Findley Lake.

Findley Lake is a four season getaway for camping at Paradise Bay Park Family Campground (located right on the lake), hiking, biking, golf, fishing, hunting, boating, skiing and snowmobiles. Peek'n Peak Four Season Resort is less than five miles and all hamlet and town roads are approved and marked as snowmobile trails. The community has antique and specialty shops as well as restaurants, bed and breakfasts and country inns.

Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

      1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Originally, medical alert systems were created to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Many companies also now offer the option of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pushing the wearable call button permits you to speak with a dispatcher through a base system located in your home.

Many business provide mobile options, too. You can use these systems at home, however they’ll also enable you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These operate over cellular networks and include GPS innovation. This way, if you get lost or push the call button for assistance but are unable to talk, the monitoring service can locate you.

      1. Should You Add a Fall-Detection Feature?

Some companies offer the option of automatic fall detection, for an additional monthly fee. Manufacturers say these devices sense falls when they occur and automatically contact the dispatch center, just as they would if you had pressed the call button.

Tax deductions. Check with your tax professional to find out if the cost of a medical alert is tax deductible as a medically necessary expense.

Purchasing medical alert system is difficult and sales reps seemed to give differing information on each call. They have 24 hour monitoring but customer service is only available during business hours. They require a 3 year contract, which is much longer than any competitor. Additional options are expensive to add and increase monthly fees. They do not have activity monitoring or automated system testing. While they have many features, there is no fall monitor option available.

  • Victoria Woodhull

Victoria Claflin Woodhull, later Victoria Woodhull Martin (September 23, 1838 – June 9, 1927), was an American leader of the women's suffrage movement. In 1872, she ran for President of the United States. While many historians and authors agree that Woodhull was the first woman to run for President of the United States, some have questioned that priority given issues with the legality of her run. They disagree with classifying it as a true candidacy because she was younger than the constitutionally mandated age of 35. However, election coverage by contemporary newspapers does not suggest age was a significant issue; this may, however, be due to the fact that no one took the candidacy seriously (Woodhull's 35th birthday was in September 1873, seven months after the March inauguration).

An activist for women's rights and labor reforms, Woodhull was also an advocate of "free love", by which she meant the freedom to marry, divorce and bear children without social restriction or government interference.[2]

Woodhull twice went from rags to riches, her first fortune being made on the road as a fraudulent magnetic healer[3] before she joined the spiritualist movement in the 1870s.[4] Authorship of many of her articles is disputed (many of her speeches on these topics were collaborations between Woodhull, her backers, and her second husband, Colonel James Blood[5]). However, despite her ethical problems, her role as a representative of these movements was powerful. Together with her sister, Tennessee Claflin, she was the first woman to operate a brokerage firm on Wall Street, making a second, and more reputable fortune.[6] They were among the first women to found a newspaper in the United States, Woodhull & Claflin's Weekly, which began publication in 1870.[7]
